Atienza is surrounded by roads that seem painted for motorcycle and bicycle: wide curves, good asphalt, changing scenery and very little traffic.
CM-110: Sigüenza – Atienza
The road linking the two UNESCO candidacy villages. 35 km of wide curves through the Salado valley and the Sierra de Pela.
CM-1003: the entrance via La Bodera
The most photogenic road to reach Atienza. The castle silhouette suddenly appears over the crag at a turn.
Camino del Cid by MTB
Atienza is the end of the «Exile» route and the start of the «Frontier Lands». Both have signposted MTB variants.
Castle and hermitages circular bike route
Start from the old town, climb to the castle (on foot, leaving the bike below), descend to the Val hermitage (500 m), continue along secondary roads to the Estrella (3 km) and return via Santa Lucía. About 15 km.
Practical tips
Refuelling: the nearest petrol station in Atienza may not be 24h; check before. Mechanics: no workshop in the village; nearest in Sigüenza.
